Abmarc Privacy Policy
Abmarc understands the value and importance of privacy and we are committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Act). We do this through adhering to the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the handling of personal and sensitive information (where collected), including employee records. This Policy outlines Abmarc’s information handling practices.
- Collection
Abmarc collects and holds personal information about our staff, contractors, clients, suppliers, and consumers.
The types of information which we collect and hold about our staff and contractors include contact information, prior work history, the details of referee checks, driver’s licence details, tax file numbers, Australian business numbers, superannuation fund and bank account details for employment and contracting-related purposes.
In limited circumstances, Abmarc may collect and hold health-related information about our staff which is defined as sensitive information under the Act, such as medical certificates for the purposes of processing personal leave applications.
Abmarc collects and holds contact information about our clients and suppliers for the purposes of providing services to those individuals which includes testing vehicles, conducting research, and arranging transportation.
Members of the public can interact with Abmarc’s website anonymously. Abmarc does not use cookies or other online tools such as Google Analytics as a means of tracking or monitoring end-user activity on our website.
However, where members of the public contact Abmarc via the ‘contact us’ page on our website, we collect personal information including name, email address and contact phone number for the purposes of responding to the consumer.
Other than in the case of referee checks where information is collected about a prospective staff member from a third party, Abmarc collects and holds personal information directly from our staff, contractors, clients, suppliers and consumers.
- Use and Disclosure
Abmarc collects and holds personal information for the purposes of employing staff, engaging contractors, providing testing, research and transportation services to clients, suppliers and responding to consumers. Abmarc does not use or disclose personal information for any other purposes, unless with the consent of the individual to whom the information relates, or where required or authorised to do so by law.
Abmarc does not disclose personal information about our staff, contractors, clients, suppliers or consumers to overseas recipients.
- Security of Personal Information
Personal information is held by Abmarc in secure cloud and web-based platforms with the data hosted in Australia. The platforms which we currently use are Microsoft (MS) Office 365 (including MS Teams and SharePoint) and Employment Hero. These platforms are used and configured with our privacy and security considerations in mind and the platform providers have reciprocal privacy obligations under the Act or comparable privacy laws.
Where personal information is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was obtained, Abmarc takes reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify this information.
